Not to be dramatic, but I descend further and further into madness the colder and darker it gets here in lovely NYC.
My only tried and true antidotes to this are 1. cooking for myself and 2. tucking myself into bed at a cool 8pm and falling asleep to the the voice of Anthony Bourdain narrating No Reservations. I am built for summer - built to sweat profusely in the 97 degree 4/5/6 train stop at Union Square, built to watch the sun melt behind the skyline at nearly 9pm every night, built to sun myself on an Italian beach as the cute beach club worker makes me endless aperol spritzes in exchange for kisses.
Totally not speaking from experience. Ugh. I don’t like winter.
I should have a better attitude, and I will but let me make a big stink about it first.
However, I am a sucker for the holidays. I love it. Especially Thanksgiving - which has quickly become one of my favorite days of the year since I moved to NYC. Yes, love and gratitude and Christmas trees abound, but the city empties out and there is a still magic to being here. It’s a treat.
In an attempt to combat these Daylight Savings Blues I’m throwing a good old fashioned Lucky Dinner Club: Thanksgiving Edition at my apartment (just like the good ole days!) on Tuesday, November 26th at 7:30.
And you are invited. I’ll be cooking up some of my favorite dishes, of course there will be a giveaway, and I’m certain this place will be packed with wonderful people. There will be plenty of wine, so don’t you worry. Ridiculous games will follow.
Buy tickets here!
